# Katla Privacy Policy
Last updated: 14.10.2026
Katla is a document scanning and archiving app developed by BayPro ("we"). This page explains what the app does with personal data.
## In short
Katla collects none of your data and sends nothing anywhere. The app has no internet permission; the documents you scan, the text read from them and your searches stay on your phone.
## What is processed, and where
- **Documents and photos:** pages you scan, or share into Katla from other apps, are stored on your phone in the app's own storage.
- **Text and suggestions:** the text on your pages is read by a text-recognition component that runs on your phone. The suggested name, date, amount and issuer of a document are also worked out on the phone.
- **Search:** searches run against an index on the phone; what you search for is neither recorded nor sent.
- **Settings:** your language, appearance and backup-folder choices are kept on the phone.
None of this is transmitted to us or to any third party. We hold no record, account or identifier of yours.
## Permissions
- **Camera:** used only while you have the scanning screen open, to photograph pages.
- **Storage (Android 9 and older only):** asked for when you choose to save a page to the gallery or the Downloads folder.
- **Internet:** the app does not request it and cannot connect to a network.
## Backup
Backup is optional and off by default. If you turn it on, a copy of your archive is written to a folder you choose. That folder may be on your phone, or a cloud drive that appears as a folder on your phone. If the folder belongs to a cloud service, the files written there are subject to that service's terms and privacy policy. Backup files are not encrypted; anyone with access to the folder can open the documents.
## Sharing
When you share a document, the file is handed to the app you pick through your phone's share screen. From then on that app's rules apply.
## Third-party components
The app includes the on-device version of Google ML Kit for text recognition and an open-source model for finding pages. These run on the phone; since the app has no internet permission, they cannot send data out. There are no advertising or analytics libraries.
## Deleting your data
A deleted document waits in the trash for 30 days and is then removed for good; you can also remove it for good from the trash at once. Uninstalling the app removes everything the app stored on your phone. Copies you saved to a backup folder or to the gallery are yours to manage and are not removed when the app is uninstalled.
## Children
Katla is not directed at children and collects personal data from no one.
## Changes
If this policy changes, the current text will be published on this page and the date above updated. Should the app ever gain a feature that collects data or goes online, that feature will be optional and explained plainly before it is used.
